Multi-Year Expert Meeting on Transport, Trade Logistics and Trade Facilitation, eleventh session


UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) will hold its eleventh session of the Multi-Year Expert Meeting on Transport, Trade Logistics and Trade Facilitation on 23-24 October 2024. The meeting will focus on key thematic areas relevant to advancing sustainability, low-carbon and resilient maritime transport and trade in a time of poly-crisis while taking into account the outcome of relevant global key policy processes, including the Global Supply Chain Forum convened by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Government of Barbados, in Bridgetown, on 21-24 May 2024. 
 

The session will be held with physical participation, in room XXVI of the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland. Live audio stream will also be made available for participants who would not be able to attend physically. The live audio stream will be available in the six official languages of the United Nations. 

 

 

 

Launch of the Review of Maritime Transport 2024

At 17:00 on Tuesday, 22 October 2024, UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) will launch its review of maritime transport 2024 publication.

The Review of Maritime Transport is an UNCTAD flagship report, published annually since 1968. It provides an analysis of structural and cyclical changes affecting seaborne trade, ports and shipping, as well as an extensive collection of statistics from maritime trade and transport.

 

 

 

Resilient and sustainable transport: A pre-condition for shared prosperity

Infrastructure, including transport infrastructure, directly and indirectly influences the attainment of all the SDGs, including 92 per cent of the 169 individual targets.

The Bridgetown Covenant emphasized the strategic importance of transport for sustainable economic growth and development, regional integration, and for the participation of developing countries in the global economy.
